The long way home.

The road less traveled is sometimes longer, but it can also be the better route.  Through geocaching we sometimes get to see what we would normally bypass.  On Sunday we decided to take the less traveled road.  We picked up some new geocaches and had the chance to see some beautiful country.  We made the right choice.

Height of Land Forest Road

One of our favorite drives in the fall is through the White Earth State Forest.  This forest located in Mahnomen, Clearwater and Becker Counties.  It is 160,000 acres of maple, basswood, red oak, ironwood, elm, aspen, red pine, white pine and white spruce.

Algae Bloom or Pea Soup?

I had just mowed the yard and thought that I might jump in the lake for one last swim of the year.  Got down to the dock and changed my mind.  There is something about swimming in pea soup that does not appeal to me.  Looks like Roy Lake had an algae bloom this year. I had never seen it like this before.

At the Dock
Pea Soup anyone?

A tad green!

Some fall colors (you can still see the algae).

Juggler Lake and Two Inlets Lake

Jo and I went for a drive and did some geocaching.  It brought us to Juggler Lake and Two Inlets Lake.  It was a nice day for a drive and we got the chance to visit some lakes that we have never seen.  The Fall colors were just showing a hint of what is to come.
