Weekend and more.

We had a chance to watch Marcus and Maggie for a few hours on Sunday. It was a nice day to head to the park.

We also got to see Ryan S. You got to like the Santa hat.

Ran into sister's Karin and Karla at Mexican Village last week.

IMac ect...

I've been a bit slow on the post's this month. Not much exciting going on. We have been up to Langdon a few more times.

Missed deer hunting (but I was with my dear) for the first time since George H. Bush required my services for the first Gulf War. The closest I got to any action was when we were cruising on the surface in the Gulf of Thailand and I got to stand topside on Pirate watch. I'm not sure how a pirate would take over a Submarine.

Dad had some skin cancer (the good kind they called it) removed from his forehead last week.

I picked up a new IMac computer on Saturday. Got home and set it up only to discover that the screen was cracked. Talk about a bummer. Took it back to the Bookstore and will have to wait a week or so for a new one.

I'll have to look for some photos to post later.

Dinner at 'l Bistro Mediterranean Eatery

On Nov 3rd we ate at the 'l Bistro Mediterranean Eatery at the Canad Inn in Grand Forks.

Jo had the Portobello Ravioli
(Ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms, tossed in a rich alfredo sauce topped with diced tomatoes.)

I had the Frutti de Mare
(Mussels, shrimp, and calamari on linguine noodles tossed in your choice of pesto cream or marinara sauce.) I had the marinara sauce.

We enjoyed our meals. On Tuesdays the have a Pasta Party Special. You can get a Bistro Size Pasta for the 1/2 order price! This always gives us enough for lunch the next day.

Halloween in Langdon

We spent Halloween weekend in Langdon.

After a week of cloudy weather the sun decided to poke through the clouds.

I failed to get any trick or treat photos. Bummer! Reese was a chicken, Hayden was a Dirt Biker, Marcus was a star wars action figure, Jakob was the evil emperor and Maggie was a kitty cat. Jo and I were scarecrows.

On Halloween morning we went over to check out the demolition of a hotel in Langdon. Dane Witzel made it look pretty easy moving the backhoe around.

Plenty of supervision on the job!

Up North

We spent last weekend up at Jo's hometown visiting.

Happy nephew Reese.

We cooked a turkey on Sunday. Deep Fried of course.

After lunch all the boys headed out to the farm. Jo and I went to pick up Hayden and Reese and we ran into them in riding in the combine. They were on the way to a field North of the farm to harvest some wheat. It was at 20% moisture.

Look at the smiling faces!

We followed them out to the field and picked them up. Of course once we got to the farm we ended up running some equipment over the where the harvest was going on. You can always count on the kids having fun with farm equipment. Just wait until they get older and it turns to work and see if they keep smiling!
Marcus.

Lining up the header on the second combine.

I got to drive the ambulance that was used to pull the header. Tried to get the siren to work, but couldn't figure out the switches.

Here comes the grain cart.

Closeup of the cart.

Old pump.

Here is an old rail that is used to scratch the gravel to dry it out. It says Great Northern Rail Road 1897.

Geocaching in the snow

On Sunday October 11th we decided to go geocaching before heading back to GF with the boat.

This is Richard Felt Bridge. It was originally built in 1896 and reconstructed in the 1990's. It was the first roadway bridge over the Mississippi River.

The deck boards seem a bit soft, so I would not drive my truck over it.

Here is Jo at Coffee Pot Landing on the Mississippi.

Jo in the woods.

This is one of my favorite caches. It is a multi cache. The first stage is this frog and the coordinates for the final stage are on the tongue that pulls out.

Here is the final stage. Wonder whats in it?

This guy is!

Open up and you get the cache.
