Snowmobile Trip to Roy Lake

We went snowmobiling over at Roy Lake the last weekend of February.  It was about -14 when we pulled in on Friday night.  Spent about 2 hours trying to get the snow blower working and gave up.  We had planned on spending the night at the Shooting Star anyway.  Got up Saturday morning and drove the 20 miles to the lake.  Installed a new spark plug and put some deicer in the gas tank and the snowblower started up.

Due to the warm weather 3-4 week before the snow was hard as cement.  It took about 4 hours to get the front of the driveway blown.  Just as I finished up the snow blowing, Jon, Jakob, Marcus & Maggie drove up.  Jo and Maggie stayed at the cabin to keep the fire going and the rest of us took the trails over to the edge of Itasca Park.  I didn't take many pictures due to the cold.  The only rough spot on the trail was Strawberry Mountain Road which was plowed up for a few miles for logging.

I had never traveled the trail North of Roy Lake, so we checked that out on Sunday.  My favorite part on the trail this year was at Roy Lake Creek.
