Getting Ready for the Flood

I have pulled all my geocaches located in the Greenway.

The Red River of the North is about to go out of its banks and
I wanted to remove the caches before it was too late.
The Bike Bridges over the River have been closed and the
City of Grand Forks has closed down some the the Greenway
paths. The City of East Grand Forks will be shutting down part
of the Greenway this weekend. I hope to get the caches back out
in late April.

You can check the river level by clicking on the feed on the side menu.

View from EGF looking at River Side Dam.

Last weekend 2 snowmobilers ran over the dam and into the water. One walked out through the rapids and the other one was hanging on by one hand in a hole in the water. Lucky for him an off duty EGF Policeman was out for a walk. He crawled out on the ice and looped a dog leash around him and it took three people to pull him out. He could not feel his legs. Both drivers were from Grand Forks and should have known better.

Riverside Dam from the East Side. It is almost under water.

Here is one that I pulled today. Thats Minnkota Power in the background.

Roy Lake March Visit

We paid a visit to Roy Lake on Sunday March 15th. The area just got 10-12 inches of snow the week before, so we thought we would check things out. Boy was the snow melting. When we pulled into the neighbors driveway the road was just starting to melt. By the time we left the water was gushing down the road.

The Backyard.

Even had time to do some reading (along with some other stuff).
It was a balmy 60 degrees in the outdoor reading
room.

The temp reached 52 degrees when we arrived at the lake. The low of the winter at the lake was -37 and the high was 56 degrees.
T-shirt weather!
Ready for summer??

Enjoying the sun!

Still some ice houses out along with some trucks.

Check out the snow depth.

It was nice to have the sun still up past 7:00 on the trip home.

Saturday Night After the Races.

After the races and awards we headed over to
the West 40 resturant (west side of Park Rapids)
to have steak and shrimp. It was a good meal.
Afterwards we went over to the motel to visit.

Roy Lake Winter Visit

Stopped by the cabin on the way to Park Rapids on Saturday.
It was pretty quiet on the lake. The snow was too deep to
drive in. It had rained a few weeks ago so we were able
to walk on top of the snow. Everything seemed to be in
good order. I checked my temp gauge and the low since our
last visit in November was -37 and the high was +46. It was
about +6 degrees in the cabin. I have the pontoon stored inside
this winter so it was nice not having to worry about it this year.
