A Visit to the Sun Valley Snowmobile Lodge in the Pembina Gorge.

After watching Hayden's hockey game on Saturday we ate lunch and loaded up the sleds and headed north to the Pembina Gorge.  It was a nice day for a ride.

The boys are all ready to go!

We unloaded the sleds at Howard's and drove about six miles to the Sun Valley Snowmobile Lodge.  The Coyle Family built the cabin in the 1970's and it is used as a warming shelter on the trail.  It's a nice place to warm up and has great sledding hills for the boys.

When we got back to the cabin there was a bunch
of other riders resting and getting warmed up.
The boys had plenty of exercise walking up the hill.

After visiting with Howard we drove over to Maida to have steaks at Jacks for Jo's birthday.

Out for a long drive.

Out for a long drive today.  First we headed over to Thief River Falls to pick up a new snowmobile trailer and then to Ray's to pick up the sled and then up to Langdon.  When we pulled up into the yard the guys already had their sled's warmed up and ready to go.  We went for a nice ride.

Hockey in Rugby

The Langdon Blades (Mites) had a tournament in Rugby on Saturday. We spent the day watching the kids play hockey. They won one and lost two and ended up placing 4th out of 6.

For the second year in a row Jo won the 50/50 raffle and a composite hockey stick. The highlight of the day was when Hayden made a goal off of a face off in the offensive end zone.

A quick goal!!

Don't Minard Me!

I looked out my office window today in the Education Building and noticed a sign in the window of neighboring Gillette Hall. Was wondering what the protest was about so I went up to the second floor to get a better look at it. Ha! seems like some folks over in Gillette Hall on the Campus of the University of North Dakota have a sense of humor or they may be a bit worried about what happened on to Minard Hall on the North Dakota State University campus.

The Education building is being remodeled and is going to be attached to Gillette Hall. Minard Hall was undergoing an expansion and after the ground was excavated a wall collapsed. Oops! Good thing nobody was around when it happend.

A New Year At Roy Lake

December flew by way too fast. It's now 2010 and I'm ready for the new year. We took our annual New Years Day trip to the lake to check on the cabin. Lot's of snow with the 25 inches that fell over Christmas.

Ready for a swing?

I should have brought a toboggan to run down the stairs. Of course if I had one I probably would have hit a tree on the way down.

The thermometer is a bit off. It was -14 below out. It was darn cold out. My Blackberry did not like the cold weather.

A few fish houses on the lake.
Lot's of snow on the lake.
Had to make a quick stop over to Twin Lakes.

On the way home the temperature hit -32 below around Erskine. Man that's cold. When we got back to Grand Forks it was a balmy -24 below.
